- Bioinformatiacs - Lead IT Analyst
Key new role to be Senior IT person to interface with R&D
Bioinformatics group. Interface at VP and participate at staff level. Must have either
Bioinformatics or Science (Chemistry/Biology) application experience. Do you know genetic
sequence and genetic blasts? Functional expertise is a must plus broad IT experience and
skills that encompass project planning, project management, analysis, design, SDLC and
implementation of scientific applicaitons on web and client server platforms. In addition,
well developed interpersonal and communication abilities are essential as are tact and

Will be first person to lead IT services to Bioinformatics Group and
will deal with all technology in the group. Must speak the language to gain credibility
and acceptability.

Candidate should have used SQL more broadly, including database design
and coding within the SQL language (Transact-SQL, or 'stored procedures').
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists senior staff teammates and others with functional software design. Makes sound
technical recommendations. Successfully builds applications, functions and processes using
programming skills/software. Designs and implements application logic. Designs databases,
tables, methods and procedures (SQL). Designs graphiical user interface. Develop reusable
components and shared class libraries. Codes, tests, and debugs complex and intricate
multi-user programs, of superior quality, based on needs requirements. Enhances and
modifies existing Contingency Planning software applications. Codes, tests, and debugs new
applications using leading edge technologies. Fixes bugs and other application defects.
Develops software to interface with new and existing systems. Shares knowledge with
teammates and others in the organization. Accepts guidance and support. Shares important
project status information with senior teammates and management. Participates frequently
in team meetings. Provides application support and technical assistance in a timely
fashion. Special projects as assigned.
SKILLS:
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
required. Good project and time management skills and the ability to work under deadline
pressure and on multiple projects simultaneously. Minimum 5 years experience with
Microsoft Visual Basic including object oriented programming techniques and experience
with SourceSafe. Minimum 5 years experience with SQL (Transact SQL compliant preferred)
programming and database design. Experience in developing multi-user applications using
client/server computing technologies and client/server tools. Experience with Microsoft
Visual Studio web development tools (ASP) and web based application design. Experience
working with JavaScript, VBScript, Windows 2000, Internet Information Services (IIS), XML.
Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio .NET. Ability to think logically and to analyze
and solve problems. Ability to communicate technical information effectively. Proficiency
working in a Microsoft Windows environment. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work
assignments. Ability to work independently and as a team player. Willingness and ability
to learn and adapt to new technologies.
